About Mutie MULE

Mutie is an accomplished software executive with over 10 years of experience in the software industry. He is the co-founder and COO of Solutech Limited, the leading field sales force automation company in Kenya, with a footprint in Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Sudan. Mutie firmly believes in providing technological solutions which empower businesses to increase their revenue to attain long-term sustainability and strongly relies on Rotary’s four-way test in making decisions.

At Solutech, Mutie, together with his three business partners, Alexander, Rayyidh, and Jinal, has been instrumental in growing the company’s client base from zero in 2014 to over 25 clients in a period of 7 years and setting up a talented team to oversee Solutech’s expansion and longevity in Africa.

Prior to co-founding Solutech, Mutie worked at various organizations as a software engineer. Notably, in 2012, whilst a student at the University of Nairobi, he was responsible for automating the data collection and analysis process of a research study in Western Kenya using Open Data Kit and Google App Engine, which is published in the USA National Library of Medicine, BMC (Bio Medica Central) Health Services Research journal, Johns Hopkins University, and the Brown University Library.

Away from software engineering and running Solutech, Mutie sits on the Board of Management of St. Mary’s Kyunyu Secondary School, a day and boarding school on the outskirts of Makueni County, and advises the board on all IT-related matters.

When not sitting on the edge of his sofa because the VAR (Video Assistant Referee) is taking longer to confirm Bruno Fernandes’s penalty appeal, as an avid small-scale farmer, Mutie enjoys spending time with his family and on his farm, where he is growing citrus fruits towards combating hunger as part of United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Mutie is also passionate about environmental conservation and often utilizes his time planting trees to increase vegetation cover, and encouraging others to do so as well.

Mutie holds a BS in Computer Science from The University of Nairobi and is currently undergoing the Stanford Seed Transformation Program offered by faculty from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
